Course Descriptions

GYROTONIC® Level 1 Teacher Training Curriculum

The Foundation Teacher Training Course is used by GYROTONIC® trainers worldwide in therapeutic, dance, alternative health, and sports-related facilities.

GYROTONIC® Pre-Training

Purpose: The purpose of the Pre-Training Course is to prepare the student for the Foundation Teacher Training Course. The main focus is the physical execution of the essential exercises on the Pre-Training Course Exercise List. The Pre-Training Course is designed to prepare the student to become a Certified GYROTONIC® Trainer Level 1.

Pre-requisite: It is strongly recommended that the students interested in a Pre-Training Course take some private or introductory lessons on the Pulley Tower prior to enrollment.

Length: The Pre-Training Course is given over  a minimum of six days, during which  the student must completes  20-28 hours. The actual number of hours will vary depending on the number of students participating.

Cost: Cost for Pre-Training per person is US $850 if training is done in a group. The price is higher for private Pre-Training.

GYROTONIC® Foundation Teacher Training Course

Purpose: Master Trainers introduce teaching techniques and principles underlying the Exercise Syllabus Level 1, for the Pulley-Tower Combination Unit.

Pre-requisite:  The student must successfully complete the pre-training course by demonstrating sufficient experience and expertise using GYROTONIC® Expansion System.. The Master Trainer reserves the right to refuse a student if the Master Trainer assesses that the student is not ready for the course.

Course Content: Students learn in supervised groups, taking the role of student and of teacher alternately to facilitate the learning process. The methodology includes verbal instruction and physical guidance to reinforce the correct execution of breathing patterns synchronized with the corresponding movements. Students learn how to execute these breathing patterns and corresponding movements in their own bodies. Students and will also learn, as teacher, how to physically guide others in the execution of the exercises. The exercises in the course are limited to the Foundation Level 1 Syllabus and Manual.

Length: The course is taught over a minimum of 12 days and 60 hours of training. Options include:

* 12 consecutive days, maximum of 6 hours per day, or
* 4 consecutive 3-day weekends, , or
* 3 consecutive weekends, each 4 days

Hours: 5 hours minimum of training per day, 6 hours maximum per day.

Successful Completion: Certificate Apprentice Certificate

A student's participation in the Foundation Teacher Training Course does NOT guarantee certification. The student must prove that he/she can adequately use and follow the Foundation Course Syllabus while instructing clients. Upon successful completion the student will be a GYROTONIC® Apprentice and will receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship. Only the valid GYROTONIC® Certificates display the authentic signature of Julio Horvath and have a GYROTONIC® Sales Corp Seal attached to them. The Apprentice receives permission to work with clients and must document these hours on the Apprentice Log Sheet provided after successful completion of the Foundation Course.

Cost: Standard base price: US $1,500. Initial License fee of $100 is included.

GYROTONIC® Apprenticeship

Apprentice review and practice the Foundation Course material and prepare for the Final Certification Course. The Apprentice can only gain entry into advanced GYROTONIC Educational Courses after successful completion of the Final Certification Course Level 1.

Responsibility of the Apprentice:

It is the responsibility of the Apprentice to make all arrangements in order to fulfill the requirements of the Apprenticeship Period.

Validity of Apprenticeship:

The Apprenticeship Period lasts a minimum of six (6) months and a maximum of twelve (12) months from the date that the student successfully completes the Foundation Course. The Apprentice cannot enroll in the Final Certification Course if less than six (6) months have elapsed since she or he finished the Foundation Teacher Training Course with a Master Trainer. If twelve (12) months have expired since the Apprentice completed the Foundation Teacher Training Course and the Apprentice has not yet taken the Final Certification Course, she or he must contact GYROTONIC Headquarters. The Educational Director will decide if the Apprenticeship will be nullified or if an extension for a specific period of time will be granted.

General guidelines of the Apprenticeship:

The Apprentice must successfully fulfill all parts of the Apprenticeship.The Apprentice must:

Part 1.The Apprentice must teach a minimum of 60 hours with clients.

Part 2. Complete 30 Supervised Apprentice Hours with ONE Master Trainer.

Part 3. Continue teaching clients to gain experience and accumulate hours.

Part 4.Physically execute the Foundation Course Exercises on a regular basis throughout the entire Apprenticeship Period.

Details of the Apprenticeship:

Part 1: Teaching Clients

The Apprentice is authorized to teach clients according to the syllabus of the GYROTONIC Foundation Manual Level 1. The Apprentice must teach at least 60 HOURS. These hours must be documented and marked under the category of “Teaching Client Hours” in the Apprentice Log Sheet.

Part 2: Supervised Apprentice Hours with a Master Trainer

After teaching at least 20 hours with clients, (“Teaching Client Hours”) documented in the Apprentice Log Sheet), apprentices must complete Supervised Apprenticed Hours with ONE (1) GYROTONIC Master Trainer. The Supervised Apprentice Hours can be completed in the following format:

A.GROUP: involving several Apprentices and ONE Master Trainer. All Apprentices have to execute and apply the “physical guidance” aspects of all Foundation Course exercises to a moving person. These hours count as SUPERVISED APPRENTICE HOURS.

The 2 SEGMENTS FORMATof the Supervised Apprentice Hours must be taken in the following order:The Apprentice must first teach at least 20 “Teaching Client Hours” before participation in the first Supervised Apprentice Hours Segment. All hours need to be documented on the Apprentice Log Sheet.

Supervised Segment 1: 3 consecutive days, 5 hours each day, total of 15 hours

The Apprentice then must continue executing and logging on the Apprentice Log Sheet a minimum of 20 more “Teaching Client Hours,” for a total of at least 40 “Teaching Client Hours.” The Apprentice cannot enroll in Supervised Segment 2 until these 20 additional hours are completed.

Supervised Segment 2: 3 consecutive days, 5 hours each day, total of 15 hours

The Apprentice must then continue working with clients and logging an additional 20 “Teaching Client Hours”, to bring the total number of hours to a minimum of 60. All of these “Teaching Client Hours” must be documented on the Apprentice Log Sheet.

An Apprentice must log 60 “Teaching Client Hours” + 30 Supervised Apprentice Hours for a total of 90 Apprectice Hours

A minimum of two weeks must elapse between the completion of the last Supervised Apprentice Hours Segment and the first day of the Final Certification Course. The Apprentice cannot immediately enroll in the Final Certification Course after completing Supervised Segment 2. Knowing the date of the Final Certification Course beforehand, the Apprentice should allow time for completing the last portion of the “Teaching Client Hours” after the Supervised Segment 2 has been completed.

B.Group: involving several Apprentices and ONE Master Trainer. All Apprentices must demonstrate and apply the “physical guidance” of all Foundation Course exercises to a moving person. These hours count as SUPERVISED APPRENTICE HOURS.

The 1 SEGMENT FORMATfor the Supervised Apprentice Hours must be taken in the following order:

. The Apprentice must teach at least 30 “Teaching Client Hours” before participating in the Supervised Apprentice Hours Segment.

Supervised Segment 1: 6 consecutive days, 5 hours each day, total of 30 hours

. The Apprentice must then continue working with clients and logging an additional 30 “Teaching Client Hours”, bringing the total number of hours to a minimum of 60. All of these “Teaching Client Hours” must be documented on the Apprentice Log Sheet.

As with the 2-Segment Format, an Apprentice must log 60 “Teaching Client Hours” + 30 Supervised Apprentice Hours for a total of 90 Apprectice Hours A minimum of two weeks must elapse between the completion of the last Supervised Apprentice Hours Segment and the first day of the Final Certification Course. The Apprentice cannot immediately enroll in the Final Certification Course after completing Supervised Segment 2. Knowing the date of the Final Certification Course beforehand, the Apprentice should allow time for completing the last portion of the “Teaching Client Hours” after the Supervised Segment 2 has been completed.

C.Retaking the ENTIRE Foundation Teacher Training Course, as a student. If the Apprentice chooses to retake the entire Foundation Course, the required hours are as follows:

. The Apprentice must complete at least 20 “Teaching Client Hours” before retaking the Foundation Course.

. The Apprentice can then retake the entire Foundation Teacher Training Course: 12 days, 60 hours.

. The Apprentice must then continue working with clients and logging an additional 20 “Teaching Client Hours” on the Apprentice Log Sheet, bringing the total minimum amount of “Teaching Client Hours” to 40.

The total number of hours the Apprentice must log are: 40 “Teaching Client Hours” + Retaking the entire 60 Foundation Teacher Training Course = 100 Hours

A minimum of two weeks must elapse between the completion of the last Supervised Apprentice Hours Segment and the first day of the Final Certification Course. The Apprentice cannot immediately enroll in the Final Certification Course after completing Supervised Segment 2. Knowing the date of the Final Certification Course beforehand, the Apprentice should allow time for completing the last portion of the “Teaching Client Hours” after the Supervised Segment 2 has been completed.

During Supervised Apprentice Hours the Apprentice is required , to teach Progression One of the Foundation Teacher Training Program in the presence of the Master Trainer.

The Master Trainer will initial all Supervised Apprentice Hours on the Log Sheet. However it is up to the discretion of the Master Trainer to give the final signature on the Log Sheet to approve the successful completion of the ENTIRE Apprenticeship.

Part 3: Personal Gyrotonic Level 1 Practice

The Apprentice must regularly perform the exercises according to the Foundation Teacher Training Exercise List. The Apprentice must be able to physically execute and demonstrate the exercises of the Foundation Course Syllabus.

GYROTONIC® Level I Certification Course

Level 1, the Apprentice will be a Certified GYROTONIC Trainer Level 1. This will enable the Trainer to enroll in the advanced GYROTONIC Educational Programs.

Pre-requisite: The Apprentice must present the completed Apprentice Log Sheet on the first day of the course. The Apprentice Log Sheet must display the final signature of the supervising Master Trainer.

Final Certification Course Teacher: Final Certification Courses are conducted according to the instructions of Juliu Horvath.

Final Certification Course Teacher Length: 3 days,, 4 to 6 hours per day.

Successful completion: The Apprentice must physically execute and demonstrate all exercises and principles of the Foundation Course Syllabus. Additionally, the Apprentice must apply the appropriate verbal cues and physical guidance to a moving person according to the Foundation Course Manual. A Certificate Level 1 will be issued upon successful completion only.
